CareRx is looking for a Pharmacy Assistant to join our team supporting LTC Homes and Retirement Communities.

The Pharmacy Assistant assists with preparation, packaging and organization of medication deliveries while supporting daily operations in accordance with Pharmacy Standards of Practice. Role involves precise record-keeping, processing prescriptions via dispensary software, and managing inventory including automated dispensing with PacMed. Additional tasks include handling returns, preparing creams and liquids, and generating production reports.

Requirements

  • Experience as a Pharmacy Assistant or certification from an accredited program preferred, but not required - training provided
  • Experience with KROLL and/or PacMed an asset
  • Visual acuity, numeracy, detail oriented, and manual dexterity for handling strip packs, prescription bottles and labels
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and detail oriented

Responsibilities

  • Ensure precise record-keeping and enter prescription information from nursing staff via dispensary software
  • Prepare medication for compliance packaging and maintain workflow for receiving and processing prescriptions within timelines
  • Assist with pharmacy inventory management and operate automated dispensing machine (PacMed) for processing prescriptions
  • Manage returns and expired products from nursing homes, including unpacking, sorting and disposal of medications
  • Prepare creams and liquids, and generate daily and weekly production reports
  • Maintain stock levels, reorder medications, and prepare manual and automated compliance packaging
  • Ensure accurate documentation, maintain confidentiality, adhere to ethical standards, and contribute to a clean pharmacy environment
