This role performs tasks in direct support of pharmacists with occasional guidance, contributing to preparation and dispensing of medications under supervision. It involves taking incoming calls, data entry, processing orders, sending refill reminders, and communicating with providers using various computer systems. Strong attention to detail is essential for success.
Positioned in an office setting within Pharm Coord Retail Support 2, the role applies departmental processes for inventory control and delivers outstanding customer service to internal and external customers. Duties align with federal, state, and local laws, hospital policies, and pharmacist directions. It operates computer systems to support medication processes.
After initial training and onboarding, this position offers potential for a hybrid schedule. Hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30am to 5:00pm. Certification as a Pharmacy Technician through PTCB or NHA is required to be considered.
Requirements
- Certified Pharmacy Technician through either PTCB or NHA
- Strong attention to detail
- Pharmaceutical Computer Literacy (Fundamental Awareness)
- Pharmaceutical Drug Preparation, Dispensing & Distribution (Novice)
- Pharmaceutical Quality Assurance & Compliance (Novice)
- Demonstrated basic understanding of computers for medication use processes
- Knowledge of asepsis principles for compounding sterile preparations where applicable
- Understanding of rules and regulations applying to pharmacy work areas
Responsibilities
- Assist the pharmacist in the preparation, dispensing and/or distribution of medications
- Apply departmental processes regarding inventory control
- Perform activities as directed by Pharmacists and/or Pharmacy Managers in accordance with federal, state and local laws/regulations and hospital policies
- Deliver outstanding customer service to both internal and external customers
- Operate computer systems and utilize technology
- Take incoming calls, perform data entry, and process orders
- Send refill reminders and communicate with providers
- Triage phone requests to the appropriate person
