This open-pooled position may be filled at Pharmacy Technician or Senior Technician level based on applicants' education and experience. Schedule is up to 19.99 hours per week with no benefits. Requires flexibility for shifts between 7:45 am and 6:15 pm Monday through Friday, potentially Saturdays.

Pharmacy Technicians assist Pharmacists in drug distribution, technical services, and clinical services for pharmaceutical preparation, storage, and dispensing. Daily tasks support efficient ambulatory pharmacy operations in a healthcare setting. Team collaboration ensures accurate medication handling for patients.

Senior roles involve advanced competencies like preparing complex compounded products, sterile IVs, or specialty medications. Participate in medication therapy management, initiate reconciliations, and assist with immunizations. Resolve billing issues and obtain prior authorizations with providers and payers.

Work in a dynamic ambulatory environment with opportunities to demonstrate proficiency in technology, C2 safe operations, and problem-solving. Training new employees and using financial assistance software enhance team capabilities. Position supports clinical pharmacy services in outpatient care.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Registered as a Pharmacy Technician with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy (TSBP)
  • OR Registered as a Pharmacist Intern with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy (TSBP)
  • Two (2) years of pharmacy technician experience OR Associate of Applied Science in Pharmacy Technician (for Senior)
  • Four (4) or more advanced Pharmacy Technologist competencies (for Senior)
  • Proficient in the use of financial assistance software (preferred for Senior)
  • Proficient in C2 safe operation and/or OR anesthesia narcotic reconciliation (preferred for Senior)
  • 2 or more years of retail pharmacy experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assist Pharmacists in providing drug distribution, technical services, and clinical services
  • Support preparation, storage, and dispensing of pharmaceuticals
  • Prepare or oversee complex prescription medications or those requiring special handling like extemporaneous non-sterile compounded products or sterile IV products
  • Participate in operations of medication therapy management
  • Initiate medication reconciliation
  • Assist with screening, documentation, and preparation of immunizations
  • Work with patients, providers, and payers to obtain prior authorization
  • Resolve billing and adjudication issues in prescription processing
