About this role
The per diem Retail Pharmacist is based out of the Apothecary Unit and provides floater coverage at other outpatient pharmacies. Oversees the medication distribution system for the area of responsibility. Identifies, prevents, and resolves drug therapy problems by ensuring each medication is indicated, effective, safe, and convenient for the patient.
Shifts include Monday through Friday 9:30-6 and Saturdays 9-4, with a future Sunday shift TBD. Assures the appropriateness of drug therapy and compliance with hospital policies. Oversees the distribution of medications throughout TJUH.
Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson. Supports implementation of processes to assure the quality of Pharmacy services. Trains staff as assigned, such as residents, interns, technicians, and new pharmacists.
Precepts student pharmacists as assigned per the Preceptor Development & Evaluation Program policy. Part of nationally ranked Jefferson Health, principally located in the greater Philadelphia region. Dedicated to high-quality clinical care and creating new knowledge through research.
Requirements
- Doctorate Doctor of Pharmacy or RPH
- Knowledge of pharmacokinetic principles required for medication dosing
- Monitor patients for response to medications
- Identify and document sentinel/serious events, near misses, medication errors and adverse drug reactions in the electronic reporting system
- Promote and assure compliance with the hospital formulary and policies and procedures defined by the P & T Committee
- Provide care that is appropriate to the chronological age, developmental age, social maturity, and cultural background of the patient
- RP - Registered Pharmacist - State of Pennsylvania or State of New Jersey
- Certification required based on primary work location
