Requirements

  • Ability to work independently under direction from the Pharmacist
  • Knowledge of dispensary duties including prescription entry/processing, picking/packaging, and shipping
  • Familiarity with Standard Operating Procedures and provincial regulatory requirements
  • Scope of practice permitting assistance in compounding and other pharmacy tasks
  • Experience handling accounts receivables, payments, and inventory maintenance
  • Proficiency in answering telephone calls and providing customer service in pharmacy setting
  • Cross-training capability across pharmacy areas as required

Responsibilities

  • Process prescriptions accurately for all programs/medications, including follow-up on insurance billing issues with third-party payers/patient support programs
  • Provide exemplary customer service to clinic staff, nurses, and physicians primarily by phone/email
  • Label, pick and package prescriptions in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures
  • Adhere to all relevant guidelines including Standard Operating Procedures and Provincial College of Pharmacists requirements
  • Ensure safe and appropriate storage of medications
  • Manage inventory and reconciliation, including ordering and organizing supplies
  • Prepare medications for shipping, including packing into cold chain coolers
  • Arrange for delivery services/couriers accurately
