The Compounding Pharmacy Technician I works under the direction of a licensed Pharmacist in a clean room compounding medication at least 50% of the time.

Assists pharmacist with preparation and dispensing of medications and supplies in accordance with OCH policies, procedures, state regulations, and standards. Prepares medications so they are accurately compounded, performs basic pharmaceutical calculations for correct dosages, and accurately labels and packages medications. Participates in assessing, managing, and reporting medication-related incidents.

Ensures pharmacy surfaces and laminar flow hoods are cleaned and sanitized, inspects equipment, and documents any failures or defects. Assists with recording and maintaining pharmacy temperature and cleaning logs for smooth compounding operations. Works compassionately to re-imagine the infusion care experience.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 1 year of pharmacy technician experience
  • Licensed or registered if required by the state
  • Experience providing customer service to internal and external customers, including meeting quality standards for services
  • Able to perform basic and intermediate level mathematical calculations
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Basic level skill in Microsoft Word
  • Basic level skill in Microsoft Excel

Responsibilities

  • Assist pharmacist with the preparation and dispensing of medications and supplies in accordance with OCH policies and procedures, and state regulations and standards
  • Prepare medications so they are accurately compounded
  • Perform basic pharmaceutical calculations in order to obtain correct dosages of medications
  • Accurately label and package medications
  • Participate in the process for assessing, managing, and reporting medication related incidents
  • Ensure pharmacy surfaces and laminar flow hoods are cleaned and sanitized
  • Inspect equipment and document any equipment failures or defects
  • Assist with recording and maintaining pharmacy temperature and cleaning logs
