About this role

Lumicera Health Services, powered by Navitus, is seeking a Pharmacy Technician I for our specialty pharmacy team. Under direction from the Pharmacist-in-Charge, assist in obtaining necessary information for dispensing and adjudicating medications correctly. Primary focus is answering phone calls and contacting doctors and patients via fax, phone, or other means.

Accurately translate prescription information and other details into the pharmacy dispensing software. Select the medication to be dispensed, attach the prescription label, and ensure all information is packaged for final pharmacist verification prior to shipping. Obtain and verify patient demographics, allergies, medication history, comorbidities, and payer information.

Function with the highest ethical standards and comply with all applicable federal and state laws. Manage queues by working oldest orders first for efficient processing. Contribute to correct shipment of specialty pharmacy orders.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Ability to assist pharmacists in specialty pharmacy operations
  • Proficiency in communicating with patients and prescribers via phone and fax
  • Accuracy in entering prescription and patient data into pharmacy software
  • Knowledge of patient verification processes including allergies and medication history
  • Capability to select and label medications for pharmacist review
  • Understanding of inventory management for pharmaceuticals and supplies

Responsibilities

  • Answer inbound calls from patients, prescribers, and other healthcare professionals
  • Contact doctors to obtain necessary prescription information to properly fill a prescription
  • Manage the queues and work oldest orders first
  • Ensure the correct shipment of the specialty pharmacy orders
  • Accurately translate prescription information into the pharmacy dispensing software
  • Select the medication to be dispensed, attach the prescription label, and package with all prescription information
  • Obtain and verify patient information including demographics, allergies, medication history, comorbidities, and payer information
  • Maintain adequate inventory of pharmaceuticals including ordering, receipt, verification, and stocking
