Under the direction of the Director or Manager, the technician receives electronic prescriptions, weekly batches, or refill requests and fills them accurately under the Pharmacist’s direction. Tasks include handling, counting, mixing, and packaging medications while using pharmacy software to check and record data. The role also involves entering minor edits for dispensing quantity and manufacturer NDC.

As a liaison, the technician triages incoming phone calls and messages to answer questions, fill prescription orders, or handle requests ensuring positive client experiences. Responsibilities extend to maintaining patient profiles, documenting medication care plans with advanced proprietary software, and providing enrollment support for new PACE enrollees. The position supports over 100,000 people across all 50 states with a team of more than 1,400 members.

The technician uses pharmaceutical expertise to ensure compliance, efficiency, and quality of operations while participating in company quality initiatives. Duties include coordinating facility discharges for medication reconciliation, setting up couriers for timely delivery, and confirming participant receipt. Securing information per HIPAA and applicable regulations is essential to the role.

Responsibilities

  • Receive electronic prescriptions, weekly batches or refill requests and accurately fill them under the Pharmacist’s direction, performing tasks such as handling, counting, mixing, and packaging medications
  • Assist in entering minor edits to record correct dispensing quantity and manufacturer NDC used
  • Perform reclamation duties
  • Use pharmacy software to check and record data about prescriptions
  • Act as a liaison between customers, providers, and the pharmacy; receive and triage incoming phone calls and messages
  • Establish and maintain patient profiles, including lists of medications, and document medication care plans using proprietary software
  • Coordinate facility discharges to assure medication reconciliation is complete and delivery to home is in place
  • Coordinate and set up couriers to ensure timely medication delivery and make outgoing calls to confirm receipt
