About this role

This position provides technical support to pharmacists through preparation of unit doses, data entry, delivery of medications, and cart fill exchange. Ensures accountability and accuracy of standard operations procedures. Works under direct supervision of a Pharmacist for safe distribution to inpatients and outpatients from neonates to elderly over 65.

Assist pharmacists with computer order entry of inpatient and outpatient orders, filling unit dose medication orders, and selecting ordered medications from inventory. Answer telephone, handle filing, billing/crediting, and medication profile maintenance. Load and refill medications into automated dispensing cabinet stations.

Prioritize labels from new orders to deliver product at least one hour prior to due time. Organize and restock work areas, remove expired medication. Round to nursing locations to deliver items and return excess or discontinued medications to pharmacy.

Perform unit dose functions including tubing medications to hospital areas, repackaging for dispensing, and processing narcotics. Maintain barcode medication integrity and record refrigerator temperatures daily. Maintain manufacturing logs for regulatory compliance under Pharmacist supervision.

Requirements

  • High School degree
  • State of Oregon Pharmacy Technician License, including completion and maintenance of job-specific competencies and certifications
  • Completion of training competencies
  • Ability to read and understand medical-related terms
  • Ability to perform basic pharmaceutical mathematics calculations
  • Skill at manipulating small objects, e.g., needles, syringes, ampules
  • Knowledge of and skill at application of aseptic technique
  • Ability to establish priorities in workflow
