The Pharmacy Technician provides direct patient care virtually, collaborating with the healthcare team to optimize pharmaceutical care.

This role involves reviewing and processing pharmacy refill requests via faxes, EMR routes, or calls per protocol. Conduct telephonic outreaches to assist with medication adherence and refills promptly. Access adherence gap portals and review medical chart notes to determine actions.

Work in a virtual environment with pharmacy staff, providers, and care teams to resolve medication issues. Serve diverse senior populations with respect, focusing on Medicare Advantage prescription benefits. Ensure tasks meet regulations like HIPAA and organizational standards.

Attend staff meetings to provide input on trends, process evaluation, and quality improvement. Assist with departmental initiatives as available. Ideal for those passionate about quality care for seniors with strong attention to detail.

Requirements

  • Registered Pharmacy Technician with a state board of pharmacy
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in operational pharmacy benefits, clinic, high volume call center, or retail pharmacy
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required
  • eClinicalWorks or similar EMR experience
  • Excellent customer service, telephone etiquette, and active listening skills
  • Strong attention to detail and good alpha/numeric data entry skills
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Outlook, and Excel
  • Deep understanding of Medicare Advantage prescription benefits preferred

Responsibilities

  • Review and process pharmacy refill requests via faxes, EMR routes, or direct incoming calls per established protocol
  • Conduct telephonic outreaches and answer calls regarding patient medication use and adherence
  • Access medication adherence gap portals or lists and review member medical chart notes
  • Collaborate with pharmacy staff, providers, and care teams to resolve medication issues
  • Ensure tasks are completed timely, documented accurately, and in accordance with HIPAA and standards
  • Attend staff meetings and provide input on trends, process evaluation, and quality improvement
  • Assist with other pharmacy departmental initiatives as available
