About this role

We are seeking a specialist pharmacist with experience of working on Acute Mental Health wards to provide an advanced level clinical pharmacy service to our Mental Health units. Autonomous workers with proven communication and interpersonal skills will work in conjunction with clinical pharmacy leads and the team. Deliver efficient, high quality, professional and well-coordinated clinical pharmacy and dispensing support service.

The role involves provision of prescribing and medicines management advice to consultant teams, nursing and AHP personnel and patients at ward/clinic level. Act as a specialist pharmacist for clinical specialities involving complex/high risk patient populations. Utilise pharmaceutical expertise in partnership with patients, carers and healthcare professionals.

Requirements

  • Masters Degree in Pharmacy plus pre-registration training
  • Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council
  • Experience of working on Acute Mental Health wards
  • Autonomous worker with proven communication and interpersonal skills

Responsibilities

  • Provide advanced level clinical pharmacy service to Mental Health units and specified clinical specialities involving complex/high risk patient populations
  • Offer prescribing and medicines management advice to consultant teams, nursing, AHP personnel and patients at ward/clinic level
  • Utilise pharmaceutical expertise working in partnership with patients, carers and healthcare professionals to minimise medicines-related harm and facilitate medicines optimisation
  • Give specialist clinical pharmacy advice to the MH division
  • Participate in the pharmaceutical services to the MH division
  • Monitor drug usage and promote cost effective prescribing within the division
