About this role
The Clinical Pharmacist I practices as a pharmacy generalist in one or more patient care areas. In addition to direct patient care activities, this position participates in departmental or institutional quality, safety, and cost-saving initiatives. Consistently provides patient-centered, interdisciplinary pharmaceutical care.
Proactively reviews and processes orders accurately and efficiently. Prevents and/or resolves drug-related problems to ensure safety, efficacy, and cost-efficiency by consulting with the ordering prescriber. Performs daily in-depth patient profile review to assess, monitor, and recommend appropriate drug therapy.
Engages with other clinical pharmacists and leadership for complex clinical situations. Oversees the work performed by pharmacy students, technicians, and pharmacists to ensure performance standards. Handles conflict and problems, including ethical issues, constructively and appropriately.
Maintains clinical competency through licensure and departmental requirements. Serves as preceptor for pharmacy students or provides educational in-services annually. Participates in research, quality improvement projects, and medication use evaluations.
Requirements
- One year of relevant experience
- Maintains clinical competency through licensure and departmental requirements
- Accurately evaluates the usefulness of medical literature in optimizing evidenced based care
- Follows system policies and processes for proper dosing, storage, handling, dispensing, and administration of medications
- Documents adverse drug reactions and medication variances per policy
- Understands 340B practices as applicable
Responsibilities

- Monitor drug therapy regimens and make recommendations or modifications per protocol
- Precept pharmacy students and residents as available
- Participate in at least one medication use evaluation or quality improvement project annually
